Guitar (acoustic)
Piano (young beginners to early intermediate)
Theoretical
RCM theory (preperatory/basic rudiments)
RCM history (all levels)
** Can be arranged as a group lesson if there are more than 2 students **
Also available
Adapted piano lessons for special needs students
Motivation
Preparation for RCM exams as well as competitions and festivals
Student recitals twice a year
What does a typical lesson look like?
I strive for students to learn as much as possible about music, to enjoy it, and simply put sitting at the piano for example and playing for 30 minutes straight is boring, you lose concentration, and my approach fosters different learning styles.
- instrumental "warm up" with technique/technical exercises
- practical playing (reviewing homework and learning new songs, theory)
- musical games (EC worksheets, rhythm games, note spelling, ear training)
- history (always have some tidbits of information about the song, composer, genre, etc.)
- other (music listening, playing other instruments like boomwhackers, musical bingo's, ipad)
I also don't use one type of lesson book method. One method does NOT fit all.
I determine the method depending on the student's age, learning style, musical background, and any special needs.
